L.A. Deputy Uses PIT Maneuver to End Chase

Video shows a dramatic police chase in Lancaster, California Tuesday that ended after a Los Angeles Sheriff's deputy attempted a PIT maneuver.

The pursuit ensued around 11:06 a.m. when deputies located a parolee-at-large wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, according to KNBC-TV.

Around 12:10 p.m., a patrol car attempted a PIT maneuver, which sent the suspect's SUV spinning into a dirt bank. That's when 49-year-old Danny L. Reeder exited the vehicle and walked away from deputies before sprinting away from a line of oncoming patrol cars.

The deputies exited their cruisers and tackled the man to the ground before taking him into custody.

One deputy was injured, officials did not provide details about the seriousness of the injuries.

The California Highway Patrol assisted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department with the pursuit.
