MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee police officer was shot and wounded during a foot pursuit early Tuesday morning.
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle shortly before 1 a.m. for driving recklessly in the area of North Teutonia Avenue and West Roosevelt Drive. according to WISN-TV.
Milwaukee Police Captain David Salazar told reporters that the suspect vehicle crashed into a tree at N. Teutonia Avenue and N. 27th Street and the three people in the vehicle took off running.
One of the suspects then shot at two officers, hitting one of them. That suspect then shot and killed himself.
The other two suspects were arrested a short time later.
Police said the injured officer was conscious and alert as he was being transported to the hospital.
Salazar said the officer and his partner will both be placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
The investigation into the investigation is ongoing.
