Pa. Police: Officers Catch Man Dismembering Girlfriend's Body

Feb. 14, 2022
Clifton Heights police officers discovered a 32-year-old man with a machete in his hand and a woman’s body on the floor of a home in the Philadelphia suburb.

A Pennsylvania man was caught in the act of dismembering his girlfriend’s body after killing her, according to police reports.

Cops said Nicholas Scurria, 32, was found inside a home in the west Philadelphia suburb of Clifton Heights with a machete in hand and the woman’s body on the floor, the Delco Times reported.

Scurria claimed that his girlfriend tried to cut his testicles off, so he started punching her in the face, according to the Delco Times. He then killed the woman with the machete and cut her head off, police said.

Investigators said that Scurria admitted to the crime but claimed it was in self-defense.

Neighbors called police after they heard screaming around 4 a.m. Friday morning, local CBS affiliate KYW reported. Before police got there, the screaming had stopped, and neighbors said they started to hear a sawing noise.

The officers arrived, saw the crime in process and barged in to arrest Scurria, KYW reported. He’s been charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, among other counts.
