A woman who had been living inside a Fort Worth storage unit after escaping an abusive living situation had to be rescued from the unit Wednesday night after being held inside against her will, police said.
Fort Worth police were called about 9:15 p.m. to a storage facility in the 2300 block of Pollard Street, near Meadowbrook Drive, to reports of a woman who was trapped inside one of the units.
Investigators said the woman and an unidentified suspect previously lived together, but the woman moved into the storage unit after the suspect assaulted her. The suspect then found her in the storage unit, closed the door and secured it from the outside, preventing the woman from fleeing, police said.
It is unclear how long the woman had been staying at the storage unit or how long she was trapped inside.
Police said no one was in custody Thursday morning, and an investigation is ongoing.
