Feb. 27, 2023
Authorities searched for a driver who is accused of dragging a Barnesville police officer after being pulled over for outstanding warrants in Henry County.

A fugitive was arrested Sunday after authorities said he dragged a Georgia police officer during a traffic stop.

Officers were on the hunt for Caleb Hoover, who fled the traffic stop after a Barnesville police officer discovered he had outstanding warrants in Henry County. When the officer tried to detain him, Hoover drove away, dragging him and causing minor injuries, according to authorities.

Hoover’s vehicle was found abandoned on Turner Bridge Road in Barnesville. The suspect was later arrested with the “assistance of Spalding County,” police said.

He was booked into the Lamar County Jail on charges of fleeing/attempting to elude police, failure to stop at stop/yield sign, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of a roadway, failure to maintain lane, and obstruction of law enforcement officers, according to jail records.

His vehicle was towed. An investigation is ongoing.
