Suspect in Stolen SUV Tries to Flee by Tossing Drink at Tenn. Police Officer

A Nashville police officer deployed her Taser twice to subdue a man accused of stealing an SUV after the suspect threw a soft drink in the officer's face and tried to escape on foot.

A man accused of stealing an SUV threw a fountain drink in a Tennessee police officer's face as he tried to escape arrest multiple times Tuesday.

The incident happened when Nashville police officer spotted a 2021 Honda Pilot that had been reported stolen, WSMV-TV reports.  The stolen vehicle was at a gas station, and she saw the suspect—identified as Michael Moore, 49—exit the SUV.

As the officer approached Moore, the suspect threw a beverage in her face and attempted to flee on foot. Moore tried to escape twice, but the officer used a Taser to subdue him.

Moore was taken into custody, and a small bag with white rocks inside was found in his pocket. The suspect admitted to authorities that he was using cocaine.

He faces vehicle theft and assaulting an officer charges. He's being held on $73,000 bond.
