Mass. Police Help Girl with Lemonade Stand Net Zach Bryan Concert Tickets

July 5, 2024
Support—and a social media boost that led to an anonymous gift—from the Kingston Police Department helped a girl trying to raise money for Zach Bryan tickets achieve her goal.

A 10-year-old girl from Kingston will be heading to Boston’s most in-demand concert of 2024 because of her entrepreneurial spirit and the kindness of strangers.

The girl, who was trying to raise money for tickets to see country music star Zach Bryan at Gillette Stadium later this month, was spotted pouring drinks at her lemonade stand on Grove Street on Tuesday, July 2.

The police chief was the first to spot the stand while “riding around town,” Kingston Lieutenant/Detective Michael Skowyra told MassLive. The chief stopped, donated some money, and came back to the station, where he told the rest of the team about the stand.

Skowyra said, “A bunch of us went up there” to get some lemonade and give the girl some cash as well. The department then posted about the stand on Facebook where it “blew up,” according to Skowyra.

“The community was happy to see something like that,” Skowyra said.

As a result of the positive power of social media, Kingston police received an anonymous donation from a local resident of two tickets to Bryan’s upcoming show.

When police officers went back to the girl’s lemonade stand on Wednesday, July 3 to give her the tickets, Skowyra said she was “extremely excited to the point that she was crying.”

“I was happy to see how big that was for her,” he said.

In the end, Skowyra was proud that his law enforcement could be part of something positive.

“Yesterday, we’re dealing with arson to a church and we’re dealing with other B&E’s and other assaults and things like that,” he said. “Then you get something like this that puts a smile on our faces.”

Zach Bryan will be at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Wednesday, July 17, for his “Quittin Time” tour.
