Dec. 27, 2024
Two women believed to be human trafficking survivors and roughly $10,000 in cash were found when San Jose police arrested a man in connection with a suspected residential brothel.

San Jose police last week arrested a man suspected of operating a residential brothel and rescued two women believed to be human trafficking survivors, authorities said.

Fremont resident Zhen Wang, 44, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges that include pimping and pandering, the San Jose Police Department announced Thursday in a statement. Wang was out of custody as of Thursday, according to jail records.

The department's human trafficking task force surveilled Wang for a month after receiving "multiple community tips" about activities at the suspected brothel on the 80 block of S. 24th Street, the department said.

During a search of the property, detectives found two women believed to be human trafficking survivors and approximately $10,000 in cash, police said. The women were "provided resources," the department said.
