GovX Announces Sheep Dog Impact Assistance as February Winner of Mission Giveback Donation Program
La Jolla, CA (PRWEB)February 02, 2016 - GovX, the online shopping site exclusively for current and former military and first responders, announced Sheep Dog Impact Assistance as February’s winner of the Mission Giveback program. The monthly program allows GovX members to vote on four different service-related causes, foundations, or nonprofits performing work or support among military, first responder, and/or law enforcement communities. Whichever cause tallies the most votes receives a portion of GovX proceeds from all orders placed in the following month.
Sheep Dog Impact Assistance earned the most votes from GovX members at the conclusion of January voting. Founded by US Marine SgtMaj Lance Nutt, SDIA is a national disaster response organization and humanitarian team comprised of current and former military and first responders, colloquially referred to as “Sheep Dogs.”
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s devastating blow to the Gulf Coast, Nutt led a small relief effort straight into the heart of the destruction. The mission was modeled after a Marine Quick Reaction Force, focused on responding to needs in a timely and effective manner. From this mission grew the roots of Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, which became a nonprofit in 2010. Since then, SDIA has launched several additional disaster response missions and also established the Sheep Dog in Need Program, which seeks to engage, assist, and empower military veterans and first responders in need. Participants can engage in disaster response missions, outdoor adventures, endurance races, and various other outreach programs. SDIA has 18 chapters and teams nationwide, as well as one in Alberta, Canada.
“We are very grateful to GovX and their members for choosing SDIA as the February Mission Giveback winner,” exclaimed Nutt. “Every year we strive to give and do more for our nation’s veterans, first responders and communities. This donation holds tremendous power and will directly affect the lives of our neighbors and fellow Sheep Dogs in 2016.”
“Another word for a GovX member is ‘sheep dog’ and those are the people we built our site for,” said Eric McCue, GovX CEO. “We’re proud to support the mission of SDIA, so they can not only continue their work responding to disasters nationwide, but also supporting fellow veterans and sheep dogs.”
