A customized mobile command post built by LDV Inc., has been delivered to the Cape Coral Police Department. This command center will be utilized for disaster recovery, homeland security matters and major incident/event coordination (such as SWAT, missing child, crime scenes and community events), as well as planned crowd control situations. The City's general fund provided the majority of the funding, with the remaining funds coming from the Department of Homeland Security. The unit is powered by a Freightliner M2 with a Caterpillar C7 330 HP diesel engine, an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission and has a 54,600 pound GVWR.
