Watch Texas Officer Complete DoorDash Delivery after Stopping Driver
Aug. 30, 2022
A man waiting for a dinner order to be delivered was greeted by an Alvin police officer who told him, "Your DoorDash driver's going to jail, but I wanted to get you your food."
A Texas police officer made sure a resident's food delivery order reached its destination after the driver was stopped.
The extra effort happened Friday, according to a Josh Walters, who had ordered food from DoorDash and planned to enjoy dinner and a movie with his wife. But instead of a DoorDash delivery driver appearing on their security camera, an Alvin police officer showed up instead.
"I rush to the door thinking somethings wrong with one of the kids, Walters wrote in a social media post. "I swing open the door and the office says 'good evening, did you order door dash?' Yes… I said completely confused. Well your door dash drivers going to jail, but I wanted to get you your food."
Alvin Police Capt. Todd Arendell didn't give details about what led to the DoorDash driver's run in with the law when he spoke with KHOU-TV. He also played off the officer's efforts as a normal way for people to treat each other.
"It was a nice thing to do," Arendell said. "It's what people should do."
Walters, however, was impressed and grateful by the officer's good deed.
"I laughed, he laughed, what an awesome thing to do to go out of your way like that," he wrote. "I’ve always said we have some of the best officers around."
