OKLAHOMA CITY --

Two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are being hailed as heroes for saving a man’s life.

The man, Hector Mijares, suffered a heart attack and crashed his vehicle, troopers said.

Mijares was driving down Interstate 35 on Thursday morning when he crashed his car.

After speaking to troopers at the scene, Mijares collapsed and didn’t have a pulse, troopers said.

“About that time, another trooper arrived,” said Trooper Ken Pittman with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. “We began chest compressions until the ambulance got there.”

Troopers said Hector was in a coma but is alive at the hospital.

On Thursday, Nenita Mijares, Hector’s wife, met the troopers who revived Hector. She said she can’t put her gratitude into words.

“I tell them, ‘Thank you so much!’ … I know thanking you is not enough,” she said.

Hector Mijares is being treated at the Norman Heart Hospital.

Doctors said they will know more about the extent of the injuries to his heart sometime Friday.
