Berkeley Nucleonics Corporation has announced the release of the nukeALERT 951 Early-Warning Radiation Detector, a highly sensitive radiation monitor that discreetly detects and measures gamma radiation in a micro-sized package. The packaging is water-resistant and shock proof. The easy 1-to-9 reading makes it ideal for non technical responders on fire or hazmat teams. A new detector material, cesium iodide, allows responders to obtain early warnings of potentially threatening radiation sources. The detection distance, when compared to more common GM-Tube based products, is many times greater. Inspectors also benefit, using the nukeALERT 951 to locate radiation from behind shielding or at very low levels.
