AMETEK's ORTEC Products Group introduces a unique, self-contained, high-purity germanium (HPGe)-based detector module. The Interchangeable Detector Module (IDM) was developed as a building block for a wide range of applications requiring gamma-ray detection. It offers a solution for system integrators looking for a compact, interchangeable high-resolution detector that doesn't require liquid nitrogen cooling. The ORTEC Detective-ASP IDM utilizes a large area P-type HPGe crystal cooled with a high-capacity Stirling cycle cooler. Mounted onto a standard 19-inch instrument rack, a built-in removable back shield protects the unit from high-angle gamma rays from the rear of the instrument. The units are designed for rugged use and reliable service. The interchangeable units can be swapped out quickly for servicing and re-operational in seconds, limiting system downtime. Units are available with or without software.
