There was no shortage of sights (and sites) to see at this year’s SHOT Show—a new Glock, attendees sporting “tactikilts” and R. Lee Ermey “Gunny”, to name a few. The Las Vegas staple event continues to be a bastion for the shooting sports and tactical equipment heavy-hitters. In January the Sands Expo & Convention center saw a record attendance of more than 67,000 attendees. NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) owns and manages the event. The show’s official blog attributed the attendance boom in attendance to “a $6 billion industry in the last several years, fueled in part by newcomers who are…younger, more female and more urban based.” Indeed, only a handful of shooting sport enthusiasts even get the opportunity strolls aisles filled with duck calls and duty rifles. Nowadays attendance is restricted to the shooting, hunting and outdoor trades, and buyers and sellers of military, law enforcement and tactical products.
During the week of all-things SHOT, attendees could utilize a new and improved SHOT Show app to locate booths and get up-to-the minute tips on celebrity sightings, product demos and giveaways.
Next year’s SHOT Show is scheduled for Jan. 20-23, 2015.
