PUTNAMVILLE, Ind.
State police are investigating the theft of several guns from the home of one of their own detectives.
The home at 2417 South County Road 125 West in Danville was burglarized between 1:30 p.m. and 2:41 p.m. Tuesday when someone forced open the front door, police said.
Six of the detective's non-state police issued guns were taken from the home -- a Harrington and Richardson single-shot 12-gauge shotgun, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun with a pistol grip, a Remington semi-automatic .22 caliber long rifle, a Winchester pump .22-caliber long rifle, a French MAS 49/56 308 semi-automatic rifle, and a Russian Nagant M44 bolt action rifle.
An Indiana State Police uniform duty belt with two 9 mm magazines, handcuffs and assorted law enforcement items were also taken, along with multiple televisions, police said.
A credit card that was stolen from the home was used later Tuesday at the Phillips 66 Service Station at 6455 W. Washington St. in Indianapolis to buy diesel fuel, police said.
The truck was described as a four-door, dark-colored Ford diesel pickup.
Police said a man was driving the truck. A female passenger, described as white, in her mid- to late 20s with a brown ponytail, was captured on surveillance video in the convenience store.
