A Tennessee deputy was seriously wounded in a shootout during a domestic call that left an armed suspect dead late Sunday.
The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. when Knox County sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance, WATE-TV reports. When deputies reached the scene, they encountered an "armed individual," and the incident escalated.
The armed suspect began shooting and at least one deputy returned fire. The suspect was shot and killed in the exchange.
A deputy was wounded in the gunfight and rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. A sheriff's office spokeswoman said the deputy was "fighting for his life."
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting.
