A Detroit man fired gunshots into the Warren home of a reserve police officer, then returned hours later to do it again, authorities say.
Dashaun Lewis allegedly stood outside the home of a Highland Park reserve police officer late Sunday and shot at the house five times, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a social media post. The shots caused damage to the home and a vehicle.
He returned a few hours later, early Monday morning, and fired more shots at the house, plus two people who were standing outside the home, authorities said.
"These allegations are extremely serious and deeply concerning," Lucido said in the social media post. "This brazen act of violence not only caused significant property damage but also put the safety of the entire community at risk. Such actions cannot be tolerated, and we will pursue justice to ensure the safety and security of all our residents."
Three people were at the house during the second shooting, including the officer, authorities said. No one was hurt during either shooting incident.
Macomb County Prosecutor's Office spokesperson Dawn Fraylick said the reserve police officer doesn't know Lewis and doesn't know why he was allegedly firing bullets at his home.
Lewis fled after the shooting but Warren police were able to locate him a few blocks away using a drone, according to the social media post.
He was arraigned Tuesday in Warren's 37th District Court in two separate cases, one for each alleged shooting.
In total, Lewis faces 10 felony charges including three counts of assault with intent to murder, which each carry a sentence of up to life in prison.
Judge Michael Chupa set two bonds for Lewis: $300,000 for the Sunday night incident and $600,000 for the Monday incident. He remained behind bars as of Wednesday, Fraylick said.
Online court records show Lewis' next court appearance is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 16.
