This certification is awarded by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, which sets selection and training standards for their 600 member agencies across the State of California. Additionally, the Commission provides guidance to departmental firearms instructors for the development and implementation of curriculum, training, and maintenance standards for their agencies.

Students develop skills to operate the sight, negotiate around obstacles, and shoot on the move. Throughout the two-day course students will record shooting data to compare performance with back-up iron sights versus the red dot reflexive sight.
