Video: Ohio Police Cruiser Shot Up in Interstate Gunfight

An Ohio police cruiser was struck by gunfire during a shootout between officers and a suspect who had been firing at passing motorists on the interstate Friday.

Columbus police officers responded to calls concerning a man who was on the side of Interstate 71 shooting at vehicles, WBNS-TV reports. Video shot by an eyewitness shows the suspect running from police before turning around and opening fire.

A police cruiser was struck several times in the exchange. Officers shot back, and the fleeing suspect was struck.

The wounded suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Doctors, however, were able to stabilize him.

An officer was taken to hospital as a precaution. No officers suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Other vehicles were damaged during the shootout, but no civilians were injured. The incident is under investigation.
