An off-duty Metro Police officer and his wife fatally shot a man in an incident outside his house in Boulder City, according to a news release.
Boulder City Police responded to call from the officer's house at about 9:15 a.m. on Friday, to find officer Cesar Ibarra with Jeremiah Boshard, 45, who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to Boulder City Police, Ibarra told them he had heard a commotion coming from a neighbor's backyard. He said he saw Boshard slam a woman to the ground before getting on top of her and punching her in the face.
Ibarra then told his wife to call 9-1-1 before intervening himself. Police say Ibarra was able to get Boshard off of the woman, whom he directed to go with his wife, who took her to the front of their house.
Ibarra and Boshard engaged in a physical confrontation. Boshard was able to slam Ibarra's head into a vehicle parked in the driveway. Ibarra's wife then went to retrieve Ibarra's gun.
Ibarra was able to break free from Boshard and draw his firearm, identifying himself as an officer and telling Boshard to get on the ground and back away.
Boshard ignored Ibarra, advancing toward the woman victim, and Ibarra and his wife both fired at him, police stated.
Boshard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Medical personnel also attended to the woman, who suffered multiple lacerations to the head, swelling in her face and strangulation marks around her neck, the release stated.
