Police in Auburn, Washington have released dashcam video from last month in which an officer uses a PIT maneuver to stop a man suspected of having pipe bombs in the trunk of his car.
The Aug. 24 pursuit began with the suspect driving to a new housing development on the city's West Hill and opening several fire hydrants while waiting for the fire department to arrive, according to KOMO-TV.
While tended to the damage the man caused, he reportedly went back to his home, retrieved pipe bombs and returned to the same neighborhood. A police officer in the area spotted the suspect's vehicle and attempted to pull him over for the vandalism. Since the man had explosives in the car, he tried to drive away.
A two-minute pursuit ensued with the suspect damaging cars as he tried to turn around in a driveway. The officer then executed a PIT maneuver, causing the suspect to crash into a fence.
The driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but he was eventually captured by police.
Tthe pipe bombs were discovered in the suspect's trunk and a bomb disposal unit was called in to defuse them.
