NYPD Officer Stabbed, Two Others Shot

An NYPD officer was stabbed in the neck and two officers were shot Wednesday after the city's curfew went into effect.

NEW YORK -- An NYPD officer was stabbed in the neck and two other officer were shot Wednesday night after the city's curfew went into effect.

Two officers assigned to prevent looting were in the area of Church and Flatbush avenues in the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn around 11:45 p.m. when a man walked up to the officers, pulled out a knife and stabbed one of them in the left side of the neck, according to WCBS-TV.

The suspect then stole a gun from the officers and shot two other officers who responded to the area, wounding them.

All three officers were transported to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive. The suspect is listed in critical condition.

“We know that we had a chaotic scene, with a knife recovered, as well. In the ensuing, we had the perpetrator struck multiple times. He is here and he is in critical condition,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea told reporters. “We had two police officers shot in the hand, and we have a third police officer that is stabbed in the neck. All police officers, at this point in time, thank God, are in stable condition and are expected to recover.”

A total of 22 shell casing were recovered from the scene and, and investigators are reviewing the officers’ body cameras.
