Michigan State Police Trooper and Detective Shot While Serving Warrant

The shooting occurred as the State Police Fugitive Warrant Team attempted to serve a warrant.

A Michigan State Police detective and a trooper were shot and wounded Wednesday morning.

The shooting occurred around 11:15 a.m. as the State Police Fugitive Warrant Team attempted to serve a warrant in Union City, according to The Battle Creek Enquirer.

The detective was taken to the Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital in Coldwater and was later flown by medical helicopter to another hospital. He is expected to recover.

The trooper was grazed on the hand and did not immediately seek medical attention.

When police arrived, the suspect fired a long gun at them. As they were attempting to take cover, the detective was shot in the chest and the trooper was shot in the hand.

Police said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene near Arbogast and Francisco roads.
