Texas Deputy Constable Wounded in Ambush at Apartment Complex

HOUSTON -- A Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office deputy was shot and wounded after being ambushed by a suspect at an apartment complex early Tuesday morning.
Constable deputies were dispatched to a disturbance call at 13875 Ella Boulevard at the Cranbrook Apartments when a suspect opened fire with a rifle, striking Deputy Constable Christopher Hendrix, according to a news release.
Constables returned gunfire on the suspect, causing the suspect to retreat into an apartment SWAT was called to the scene and the suspect was later found dead.
Hendrix was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands were he underwent surgery and is expected to fully recover.
"Deputy Hendrix is out of surgery and doctor says it was a success! He is currently admitted to the hospital in stable condition where he will recover," the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office wrote in a Facebook post. "We need prayers for our deputy."
