A Georgia sheriff's deputy was critically wounded after a shootout during a domestic call Friday.
The incident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. at a Hoschton home, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. When Jackson County deputies arrived at the house, a woman at the front door pointed a gun at them.
The woman was ordered to drop the gun, and she then began firing. Deputy Lena Marshall was struck by the gunfire, and the second deputy returned fire, fatally wounding the woman.
Marshall was taken to the hospital in critical condition. No other details were released concerning her injuries.
"Her friends say she is strong and they are hoping with all they have she can pull through this," WXIA-TV reports.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting, according to the Journal-Constitution.
