Ill. Police Officer Attacked During Traffic Stop

After pulling over a speeder, a Westmont police officer was struck repeatedly by a driver, who attempted to steal the officer's taser before fleeing.

An Illinois police officer was attacked during a traffic stop Wednesday.

The incident happened at around 10:40 p.m., WGN-TV reports. A Westmont officer spotted a driver speeding and pulled him over.

During the stop, a struggle between the officer and the driver ensued. The driver allegedly struck the officer multiple times and tried to take the officer's taser.

Following the struggle, the driver fled to a nearby house. The police officer pursued the driver to the residence, where the officer was struck again and had a door slammed on his head.

Eventually, the driver was apprehended Thursday.

Shannon Moore, 22, was arrested and charged with three counts of felony aggravated battery and resisting arrest. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
