On Nov. 30, 2021, OFFICER Magazine launched its Officer Virtual Academy (OVA) as a way for police and law enforcement officers to continue improving job skills while juggling a busy schedule. A year later, it's still providing essential law enforcement training courses for participants that fit easily around other work and personal responsibilities.
Since OVA launched, roughly 1,500 people have participated in the training free of charge, usually taking six to 10 courses in the academy. Over 20 courses are available at the site, and each course consists of one or more training videos, a downloadable syllabus and course handout, and links to additional resources for reading or reference.

Continual training is vital for any law enforcement officer, no matter how much experience he or she might have, and OFFICER hopes to add nine to 10 courses annually. Eventually, in-service credit and/or continuing education credits could be approved.
