PHILADELPHIA -- A Whitehall man got into the Philadelphia Eagles game Saturday, got drunk, got kicked out and repeatedly punched a police horse in the face, police said Tuesday.
Taylor Hendricks, 22, of the 1900 block of Somerset Road, was kicked out of Saturday’s game because he was intoxicated and did not have a ticket, city police said. After being ejected, Hendricks walked up to a mounted officer and began punching the officer’s horse in the face, neck and shoulder area, police said. He struck the officer in the leg before another officer grabbed Hendricks and he was placed in custody.
Police said the horse and the officer were not injured.
Hendricks was charged early Sunday morning with aggravated assault, illegally taunting a police animal, simple assault and trespassing, according to court records. He was released on 10 percent of $5,000 bail and a preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for Jan. 30 in Philadelphia Municipal Court.
Court records indicate that Hendricks has twice pleaded guilty to public drunkenness in Chester County courts.
The newspaper was unsuccessful in reaching Hendricks Tuesday morning.
