Roped N.J. Police Officer Wades into Icy Lake to Rescue Boy in Water

West Long Branch Police Officer Dave Brosonski, who is trained in water rescue, entered a frigid lake to save an 11-year-old boy who had fallen through the ice.

A 11-year-old boy was rescued Monday afternoon after he fell through the ice of a Monmouth County lake.

West Long Branch Patrolman Dave Brosonski was called to Franklin Lake in the borough at 2:41 p.m. and found the child stranded in the middle of the lake, according to a release from the department.

Brosonski, who is highly trained in water rescue, entered the frigid water and was able to get the boy out and to the shore, police said.
