Coastal Training recently released a compelling safety training documentary that focuses on the attributes and benefits of Crew Resource Management (CRM). "Crash In The Dark" is a CRM case study. This program uses a train crash that occurred in the Severn Tunnel in England to illustrate how the use of CRM could not only have improved the emergency response to the disaster but may well have prevented the accident entirely. This unique look at emergency preparedness and response uses actual BBC footage, investigatory findings and first hand accounts of victims and rescuers to point out the lapses in communication and teamwork that occurred as this disaster unfolded. "Crash In The Dark" should be an integral part in the training of all personnel whose jobs involve prevention and response to disasters of all kinds - natural or manmade. It is available on video accompanied by 10 employee handbooks.
