Meggitt Training Systems introduced the new FATS® 180LE immersive simulator at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) 125th Annual Conference and Exposition held October 6-9 in Orlando, Fla.
The FATS 180LE provides 180-degree high definition projection on three borderless 150” X 84” screens with a 16:9 aspect ratio. A 5.1 surround sound audio system with directional sound effects allows instructors to incorporate unsettling noise from any direction to elevate situational awareness. The FATS 180LE supports up to 20 simulated weapons, including wireless BlueFire® ones. Up to four simulated weapons can be assigned to a single user. These include rifles, pistols, shotguns and less-lethal OC spray and TASERs®. Current FATS 100 systems can be upgraded easily to the FATS 180LE.
“Meggitt’s new FATS 180LE builds on the early success we’ve achieved with fully immersive simulators and customer feedback for additional options,” said Matt Cunningham, director, virtual systems sales, Meggitt Training Systems. “The FATS 180LE represents a balance between our 300-degree FATS 300LE and flat-screen FATS 100LE. Marksmanship and judgmental training can now be delivered with greater immersion, scaled to fit a variety of price points and space constraints.”
Other Meggitt products on display at IACP included:
- The XWT ProImage™ projected target system revolutionizes image and video targets for indoor shooting ranges. The system is a compact video projector and camera that attaches to Meggitt’s XWT target carrier. Wirelessly connected to a 10” lane control unit mounted behind the firing line, the XWT ProImage projects user-uploaded digital videos and images onto white paper or cardboard targets. The onboard camera provides a constant close-up view of the target for instantaneous feedback. The XWT ProImage docks and charges with the XWT and includes easily replaceable batteries for nonstop run time.
- SafeZone™ fully interchangeable pistol- and/or rifle-rated shooting stalls offer the customization to create clear stalls, solid stalls or a mixture of both. Completely reconfigurable and backward compatible, these can be set up in place of existing stalls.
- The SHOTT™ House or Shoot House Optimized for Tactical Training is an integrated training facility that provides officers the opportunity to practice securing a structure using live weapons. Users can experience forced entry, room navigation, dynamic and covert clearing, team tactics and judgmental shoot/don’t shoot engagements. Meggitt can equip a SHOTT House with live targetry and/or virtual systems as defined by customer requirements.
- The Road Range™ is a self-contained mobile firearms training facility that integrates live-fire and simulated training capabilities. The ballistically secure trailer is fully equipped to produce a three-position, state-of-the-art, live-fire range, or can be equipped with a FATS virtual training system. The Road Range provides a comprehensive solution for marksmanship, sustainment and judgmental training, including force escalation and de-escalation.
