A group of Texas sheriff's deputies were the son of a detective killed in an April car crash to his first day of kindergarten.

Joziah Longoria gave handshakes and hugs to the Frio County sheriff's deputies who lined the entrance of the boy's San Antonio school Aug. 16, ABC News reports. Justin, a corporal detective with the sheriff's office, was killed in a traffic accident on the way to work.

"Although we still miss our brother in blue Justin Longoria everyday, it’s these happy memories we want to continue to make for his children," the sheriff's office stated in an online post.
