Dashboard camera footage captured two drivers traveling the wrong way on an expressway exit, forcing a Tampa police officer to swerve out of the way to prevent a collision.

A Florida police had a close call on the road over the weekend when he was nearly struck by two wrong-way drivers.

The incident happened just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday as Tampa Police Officer Scott Van Treese was exiting the Selmon Expressway while taking a suspect to jail, WTSP-TV reports. That's when a small sedan and a van came barreling down in the opposite direction.

Van Treese quickly swerved to avoid a collision with both vehicles.

"I didn't have time to think," he stated in a department press release. "As soon as I saw the headlights, it just was a shock."

Van Treese sent out an alert about the two vehicles, but they weren't spotted.

"Thankfully, no one was injured," the department stated in an online update.
