Video: Texas Police Officer Fires Through Windshield in Chase Shootout

A suspect wanted in two felonies fled Cedar Hill police through Duncanville and Dallas, shooting from an open car door during the chase and exchanging gunfire with officers when he stopped.

Texas police pursued a wanted man who opened fire on officers during a chase to weaved in and out of traffic last week.

The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday when Cedar Hill police tried to stop a suspect, KTVT-TV reports. According to KXAS-TV, officers had spotted a man wanted in two felonies, and they tried to detain him before the suspect hopped in a vehicle and sped away.

A chase ensued, leading police through Duncanville and Dallas. During the pursuit, the suspect opened his car door and began shooting at officers from his speeding car.

An officer returned fire, shooting through his windshield. Finally, a shootout with Cedar Hill and Duncanville police broke out after the suspect stopped his vehicle and jumped out.

The suspect was wounded in the exchange of gunfire. He was rushed to the hospital and, as of Friday, was in stable but critical condition.
