Watch Driver Jump off Bridge in Fla. Troopers' Chase: 'I Got Stoned'

Dec. 6, 2024
Dashboard camera footage captured a driver trying to get away from Florida Highway Patrol troopers during a high-speed chase by jumping off the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys.

A driver in a high-speed chase tried to elude Florida Highway Patrol troopers last month by jumping off a bridge only to be apprehended by a marine unit.

The incident happened Nov. 26 along US. 1 in the Florida Keys when troopers tried to pull over a vehicle that was traveling erratically and hitting speeds of up to 100 mph, WPLG-TV reports. As the pursuit continued, the driver stopped on the Seven Mile Bridge, exited his vehicle and jumed.

A Monroe County Sheriff's Office marine unit was dispatched to pick up the suspect, who was arrested.

"I got stoned," said the suspect as he was taken into custody.
