Texas School District Police Officer Airlifted after Motorcycle Crash

United Independent School District (ISD) Police Officer Mario Villareal was on duty when he was struck on his motorcycle in Laredo by a driver who was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

A United ISD police officer was flown out to San Antonio after a vehicle struck him while riding a motorcycle, according to Laredo police.

At about 8:31 p.m. Feb. 24, police officers responded to a crash involving a Toyota Camry and a motorcycle at the intersection of Jacaman Road and Arena Boulevard.

First officers on the scene encountered a male victim identified as on-duty United ISD Police Officer Mario Villarreal. He had injuries to his lower extremities, according to LPD.

Further investigation revealed that Villarreal was traveling in a motorcycle on Jacaman when he was struck by the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was identified as Alessandra Davila, 21.

Davila remained at the scene and was cited for failing to yield the right of way. Villarreal was taken to a local hospital. He was later flown out to a San Antonio hospital for further treatment.
