2 Indianapolis Police Officers Injured in Chase of Rape Suspect

An Indianapolis police cruiser crashed when another vehicle swerved into its path while officers were pursuing a suspect wanted for rape and other charges.

Two Indianapolis police officers were injured in a crash while chasing a rape suspect Thursday.

The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. while a probationary officer and a training officer were pursuing an individual wanted for rape, battery and other charges, WXIN-TV reports. During the chase, another vehicle cut in front of the police cruiser, and the officer behind the wheel swerved to avoid a collision.

The police cruiser missed the other vehicle but went off the road and crashed. The officers were taken to the hospital, and they were listed in stable condition.

Police eventually caught up with the suspect, who was taken into custody.
