Fla. Sheriff: 2 Patrol Cars Traveling on Interstate Struck by Gunfire

No Broward County sheriff's deputies were injured when their marked cruisers were struck by gunfire while they were driving along Interstate 95.

Two Broward Sheriff’s Office patrol cars were struck by gunfire on Interstate 95 Wednesday night, according to the department.

The deputies were driving north on the highway near Sheridan Street around 11:40 p.m. when they felt something hit their marked vehicles, said Carey Codd, a sheriff’s office spokesman.

The deputies later saw a single gunshot each to the front of their cars, Codd said.

“Fortunately, neither of the deputies was injured by the gunfire,” said Codd, adding the investigation into the shooting is “active and ongoing.
