Mich. Police Cruiser Rolls into River while Officers Chase Suspect on Foot

When Lansing police officers exited their cruiser to pursue a suspect on a bicycle, their patrol car rolled backward into the Grand River, and a dive team was needed to recover the vehicle.

LANSING, MI — A patrol car from the Lansing Police Department ended up in the Grand River Saturday night while the officers were chasing a suspect on foot. According to WILX, the incident took place between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the area of Saginaw Street, across from Adado Riverfront Park.

The officers said they got out of the vehicle to follow a suspect who was on a bike. While chasing the suspect, the patrol car rolled backward into the river. A dive team eventually recovered the vehicle and police were able to arrest the suspect.

Police say no one was injured in the incident.
