Sept. 8, 2021
Authorities had just called off a chase involving a stolen car when that vehicle crashed into a Thornton police car, injuring three people.

A Colorado police officer was among three people injured when a stolen vehicle slammed into a patrol car early Tuesday.

The incident happened just before 3:30 a.m. after Brighton police asked for help pursuing a stolen vehicle with a suspect who was wanted on several charges, including attempted first-degree assault on a peace officer, KMGH-TV reports. Thornton police responded to the call, but the chase was called off.

After authorities ended the pursuit, a Thornton police car was struck by the stolen vehicle.

The driver and a passenger in the stolen vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The police officer also was brought to the hospital, but no details about the nature and extent of the injuries were released.
