Sept. 25, 2023
"Don't drink, don't do drugs, be a better person!" a shirtless man wanted on multiple charges shouted as he was arrested by LAPD officers following a slow-speed chase with a dog in a golf cart.

LAPD officers pursued a wanted man late Sunday in an unusual slow-speed chase involving a dog and a golf cart.

The chase began shortly after 9 p.m. and lasted nearly an hour over a 10-mile span, KTLA-TV reports. Video footage from bystanders showed a shirtless man driving a golf cart marked "security" through city streets with a dog on his lap.

The suspect, who was wanted on robbery and grand theft auto charges, finally jumped out of the golf cart and tried to escape police on foot with the dog in tow. Officers arrested the man after tackling him in a business parking lot.

"Don't drink, don't do drugs, be a better person!" the man said as police arrested him.

The dog was taken to a nearby shelter by officers. No details were released about how the chase, and it's not clear if the suspect stole the golf cart.
