Aug. 19, 2024
Participants in an illegal street sideshow that popped up at an intersection in Van Nuys surrounded an LAPD officer's cruiser and shattered the rear windshield of the vehicle.

Suspects participating in an illegal street takeover smashed the rear windshield of an LAPD cruiser over the weekend.

The attack happened as an officer was responding to a street sideshow at an intersection in Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley, WABC-TV reports. When the officer reached the scene, members of the crowd surrounded the cruiser before shattering the vehicle's rear windshield.

Fearing for his safety, the officer left the area, and the crowd dispersed. A bystander recorded the incident.

No arrests were made. Police also responded to a second illegal street takeover at another intersection that drew a massive crowd.
