Jan. 30, 2025
A stolen vehicle chase that turned into a foot pursuit and involved the Georgia State Police and Atlanta police and its air unit ended when officers found two suspects hiding inside a dumpster.

Two stolen vehicle suspects tried to hide from Atlanta police in a dumpster following a chase last week that had help from the department's aviation unit.

The incident happened at about 10:40 p.m. Jan. 24 when police spotted a stolen vehicle, and officers requested help from the air unit, the department stated in a social media post

The Georgia State Police joined the pursuit, and the driver tried to evade authorities. A state trooper finally executed a PIT maneuver, disabling the vehicle and sending suspects fleeing on foot.

One suspect stayed in the vehicle and arrested. Two other suspects fled and unsuccessfully tried to hide inside a nearby dumpster.

Police recovered two guns, a duty belt and other items in the stolen vehicle. The suspects were arrested and charged in the incident.

The incident is still under investigation.
