    With a younger generation coming into law enforcement and older cops losing the ability to focus on the front sight, the discussion has turned to red dot sights.
    Offset is something one needs to know about when using optics. It can be learned on the range simply by having officers shoot through apertures in barricades. Or, it can be learned the hard way by having them shoot around their own patrol cars. The cars with the heat divots and holes in the hoods are the ones from officers who didn’t take offset into account. Remember, the bullet does not leave the muzzle at the same plane as the sighting plane.
