MARYLAND-On April 28, 2021, Corporal Keith Heacook, of the Delmar Police Department, passed away due to injuries sustained earlier in the week. Corporal Heacook was responding to a fight call when he was assaulted. At the time, he was the only officer on duty and reported to the call alone. The officer was attacked by a suspect who repeatedly stomped his head until he became unconscious.
The suspect went on to assault an elderly couple on the street as well. Officer Heacook was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries days later. The suspect was charged with murder.
Officer Heacook served with the Delmar Police Department for 22 years and his survived by his wife and child.
