A dead body was found next to a vehicle in the parking lot of the Michigan State Police Lansing Post after a 63-year-old man had called authorities to say he intended to harm himself.

LANSING, MI – A man was found dead Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Michigan State Police Lansing Post, police said.

Around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 63-year-old man from Lansing called MSP Operations and said he was in the Lansing Post parking lot intending to harm himself, MSP said on X. Troopers went outside and found the man dead next to his vehicle.

The post was closed to the public during the on-scene investigation, police said. It reopened around 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Neither cause of death nor the man’s identity have been released. No further information is available.
