But, the Internet offers many advanced technologies that make police department's websites more proactive. CrimeWeb is helping law enforcement agencies and citizens connect by providing Web-based crime and public safety alerts via e-mail, text messaging and even by phone. The CrimeWeb.Net site provides six basic components or types of information to subscribers: Missing Child Alerts, Missing Adult Alerts, Major Crime Alerts, Homeland Security Alerts, School Information Alerts and Community Information Alerts. The information regarding each type of alert is entered into the CrimeWeb.Net site by a public safety agency using either a workstation or a mobile computer.
