Engineering Dynamics Corp. introduced HVE (Human-Vehicle-Environment) Version 8. This release provides users with several powerful new features and enhancements, including a clutch incorporated into the HVE Drivetrain Model, and an extensive Damage Data report providing detailed 3-dimensional crash impulse information for colliding vehicles. HVE Version 8 also includes HVE-CSI, a version designed specifically for law enforcement officers charged with reconstructing crashes. HVE-CSI helps officers to determine vehicle speeds at loss-of-control and impact, to identify the causes of the crash and to evaluate if any traffic safety laws have been violated. HVE-CSI can also be used to reconstruct alcohol-related crashes, which is important because alcohol is involved in nearly half of all highway fatalities.Safety researchers reconstruct motor vehicle crashes to help create a safer environment for the motoring public. Using HVE, researchers from government agencies, private research institutes, insurance companies, and vehicle manufacturers are able to mathematically reconstruct and visualize the cause of highway crashes and resulting injuries. In addition, vehicle and highway designers are able to drive virtual 3-D vehicles on highways before they are built.
