Small Enclosure, Big Protection
The popular ToughTech mini now includes government-strength AES 256-bit FIPS 140-2 Validated encryption with ToughTech Secure mini-Q. ToughTech Secure guarantes full-disk hardware based encryption, with no loss of speed.
Easy Encryption
Encryption is performed automatically by ToughTechSecure's real-time encryption engine. Your computer will see the volume available as a normal full-speed drive while full-disk encryption protects every bit. Ifyour drive is lost or stolen, however, you may restassured that without the proper AES Encryption Key, no one will be able to view its contents.
Connects to Almost Any Computer
With quadruple connection options, you'll be able to hook up ToughTech Secure to practically anycomputer out there. ToughTech Secure provides dual FireWire 800 ports (backwards compatible toFireWire 400) and a combo eSATA/USB 2.0 port.
How to Use ToughTech Securewith a Key
Using ToughTech Secure is very easy. Simply insert your AES Encryption Key into ToughTech Secure to decrypt the drive, readying it for normal, easy use. You can then remove the AES Encryption Key which is not needed again until the power is cycled. The ability to remove the key after power up helps you keep your physical key safe. The key is smaller thana standard thumb drive and easily fits on a key chain or lanyard.
AC Adapter or USB/FireWire Powered
Most FireWire ports have adequate power to operate ToughTech Secure mini-Q, so most users prefer to use ToughTech Secure mini-Q without an AC adapter for maximum portability. There are three power options with the ToughTech Secure mini-Q:
- AC Adapter
- FireWire bus power
- Dual USB host connection (one for USB, one for extra power)
Some 2.5 inch drives are taller than others. If you plan to install your own drive, make sure your drive is 9.5mm tall (0.374"), which is compatible. Less common 12.5mm (0.4921") drives are not compatible with this device.
